Women Making a Difference

'Ambassadors for Change' developed out of the Active Citizens programme of learning that Women Making a Difference delivered in partnership with the British Council between October 2010 and March 2011.

The aim of the programme was to connect organisations and women actively involved in local community initiatives in Wales with similar organisations and communities in the Middle East. The intention is to give everyone involved the opportunity to gain an international perspective on the valuable work they are already doing, whilst developing cross-cultural engagement skills and international professional networks.

The Active Citizens' mission is to build trust and understanding to support peaceful co-existence and sustainability. It is based on two assumptions, which are:

• Cultural encounters are inevitable

• Decisions taken locally have an impact globally, and vice versa
